Talk about the residues of neocolonialism and the "colonial mentality" in Beijing, China today.

A Chinese who wants to remain "anonymous" living and working in Beijing, sent me the following e-mail about the craven "colonial" Western worship which continues to linger in China today, in the disgusting deferential treatment accorded "pale-skinned" Euro-foreigners or "lao Hwai" in Beijing.

Read what he wrote me below; Does it make you mad at some of your craven fellow Chinese inside China, including our "white-ass-licking" Chinese officials ?:


'No Dogs and Chinese allowed'

It was the kind of sign that humiliated Chinese during the semi-colonial era before 1949. Signs in foreign-run concession areas would sometimes say: “No Dogs and Chinese allowed.”
Those days are long over. China is a proud nation, with much to be proud of.
But there are certain places that continue to be restricted for Chinese. And I happen to be smack dab in the middle of one. Our office is in what is called the Qijiayuan Diplomatic Compound. It no longer is just for diplomats. While there are some diplomatic missions here, any foreigner with some currency can rent, I believe, and Chinese employees or family members are welcome. At the gates, People’s Armed Police guards stand smartly at attention. They often stop Chinese and ask for identity cards to see if they indeed have jobs here or are part of families residing here.
All this is a long wind-up to say my office assistant, F... D..., arrived in tears this morning. She’d been stopped at the gate, apparently rather rudely, and it got her dander up. So she refused to pull out her identity card. She told the guard he’d seen her enter countless times and why was he harassing her? So I asked her to write up her impressions. That's her in the photo below, by the way. Here's what she wrote:
There were two soldiers standing there this morning. As usual, I was rushing directly to the doorway of our building when suddenly one of the two soldiers stopped me with his arm.
"Show me your card," he said.
"I work in this building," I replied confidently, hinting that I should be recognized since I have worked in this building for more than half a year and I was sure that I didn't look like someone who came here for the first time.
"This is an embassy and anyone should show their card if they want to get in," the soldier said.
"Oh really?" I questioned. "Why do you never ask for cards from foreigners?"
"Because this is a FOREIGN compound," he emphasized most arrogantly.
Okay, had he not said such words, I would have shown him the card. But this is not the first time that I heard such words spoken from their mouths. What he said irritated me and I decided that I would never show it to them. Do foreigners have priority in the foreign compounds? Is it logical?
"How do you know that I'm not a foreigner?" I asked.
"I should check your card before I know whether or not you are a foreigner," he said.
"I'm not giving you my card," I said. "I would give you my card if you checked everybody. But you don’t. Now I'm late for work and I'm going in."
Maybe the soldier had never seen a Chinese girl as tough as me. He was obviously angry and stretched out his arms to block me. When I was managing to get out of his control, the other soldier, who never said anything before, now came to help his comrade. He also stopped me with his arms. They were forcing their arms against me really hard.
"Let us try and see whether you can get in (without my permission)," shouted the first one as if he had great power superior to mine. The stalemate lasted for half a minute and finally I broke free.
As I was running to the doorway, that guard still couldn't stop shouting: "I'll remember you. You wait and see!"
During the whole process, another two guards were just standing there 10 meters away, laughing.
As I got into the elevator, tears just came from my eyes. I was angry not only because I was treated unfairly, but also I have experienced how some Chinese still make foreigners seem superior, and I felt pity for the guards. I think the other soldier must know that I work here. He still watched his companion give me trouble. They treat any foreigner better than their compatriots. The only standard they judge people is by the color of their skin. Should this be the way that they are educated? Don't they understand there might be more Chinese who work in the foreign compound and should be respected for who they are? AND, what are they here for? Supervising Chinese? In that way, they can even smile to a foreign terrorist!
At noon, I told another office worker about this and she asked why I didn't speak English to them to avoid trouble. Why should I? I don't want to pretend that I am a foreigner. I've never felt as a Chinese that I’m lower than a foreigner. I am just who I am.

In the Spirit of May 4th, 1919, China and its peoples need a "cultural reawakening" and a thorough self-cleansing of the residues of "Western colonialism', " from top to bottom, from officials to the "laobaixing." The sooner the better.

Jettison and discard the notion that :

"The White Man's fart smell fragrant. Bai Ren Pi Hao Xiang 白人屁好香 !!" or:

"The American Moon is Rounder! ! 美国月亮比较圆 Mei Guo Yue Liang Bi Jiao Yuan !!!"

We bloggers are an interesting breed of mavericks, who likes to think "out of the box." In these past two weeks, I have been following the relentless bombardment from the "Yellow Peril" China bashers, demonizers, and lynchers from the WEST. We Chinese inside and outside of China, especially in the WEST, have been caricaturised as the buck-toothed, slitty-eyed outsider, and worse, a horde of "yellow invaders."

To my astonishment, I discovered one lucid and gutsy Brit from London, with whom I shared similar despicable contempt about and over, i.e. this "Yellow Peril" strident crowd... those dumb idiots whose stridency is replete with racism and loathsome fear of an emerging CHINA. Historically, this "yellow peril" syndrome has been a pervasive theme in the white mindsets.

I like Brendan O' Neill and his blogs from London. Thanks to Bevin Chu, another iconoclast blogger who is an amazing Chinese intellectual with such a grasp of the farcical and hypocritical WEST, who can write fluidly in both the English and Chinese languages, I now invite you from Spatium Trientis, to read both bloggers, Brendan O Neill, and Bevin Chu, and their "outstanding" "out of the box" commentaries in their respective blog sites.

Compare Beijing's new Capital International Airport with your John F. Kennedy International Airport or the La Guardia Airport, or any of your American airports.

The latter sucks ! And who wants to fly into New York city these days ? And who wants to fly American airlines these days. The American carriers suck ! American flight attendants can't cut it anymore -- overpaid, too lazy, and unable and unwilling to do any more "grunt work."

Mr. Mahbubani's is also very eloquent in piercing Western hubris that pretends that only Westerner's views are "World views."

"Angry, Snarling CHINA" from the Economist vs. Kishore Mahbubani's "The New Asian Hemisphere - Asia Rising"Who is telling the truth?Who has it right?

The latest issue of the British-based magazine, the Economist, and its cover story, talks about an "Angry China," the snarling China with nationalistic Chinese youths and netizens rising up in defense of the country and its "coming out" party on the world stage in the hosting of the Beijing Olympics 2008.

James Miles, the only Western news reporter from the Economist who got in right about the March 14, 2008 Llasa riots apparently had not reported on the latest cover story.

First, a few weeks ago, many pundits in the biased Western news media dribbled out a cascade of misinformation in the Western world about pro-China pro-Beijing Olympics ethnic Chinese supporters being ferried by the "busloads" by Chinese Consulates in London, Paris, San Francisco, Canbrera, etc. to stage a counter-narrative "PR" campaign to oppose "Team Tibet-Shangri-la-Dalai Lama," "Team Darfur," "Team Burma," and "Team Animal-Rights," and a slew of "Mau Mau" China-bashing protesters.

Now, after the fervour demonstrated by China's youth, and intellectuals, inside and overseas in the Chinese Diaspora, in support of the Beijing Olympics 2008, have proven more than simply government machination, but a genuine mass protest against Western bashing of China and Chinaman lynching, the spin from the Economist, now is how "The recent glimpses of a snarling China should scare the country's government as much as the world."

The Western news media can't have it both ways -- Chinese masses of students, youths, intellectuals rallying in the spirit of May 4th, 1919, repudiating the WEST ? Or naive Chinese "laobaixing" being manipulated to stage a PR campaign world-wide to promote the Chinese government and the Beijing Olympics games.

Which is which ?

You may ask, " why am I having 2nd thoughts about Obama?"

My answer is simple: "I was very touched and moved by his first book, "Dreams of My Father," a Story of Race and Inheritance. It was a very poignant piece about growing up as a mixed-race Black-White child in America. And I sincerely thought at the time, given Barrack's childhood years in Indonesia, Hawaii, and how he overcame adversity, to rise from a fatherless childhood, was a heroic feat.

But the Obama I admired has now turned into just an "American pol," i.e. pandering, intellectually dishonest, and simply "dumbing down" to the lowest common denominator of American spiritual and political vapidity and banality.

I am changing my vote with a "write-in" vote for Ron Paul.

And after all this disgusting China bashing and demonization coming from the Democrats, with their special interest "labor union" white bosses, tugging the strings behind the Democratic Party platform, and with the political "Chinaman lynching" demagoguery of Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi, I am now inclined to go with Ron Paul, the only American pol at this time, at this juncture, at this stage, who is honest enough to "tell it like it is," i.e. nothing but the whole truth, so help me GOD. Or Buddha !

"BRING on the CHINESE," British social critic from London writes about patronizing claims of the WEST in AFRICA vs. CHINA -"White Man's Burden"
